The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners serve as the governing body of Ottawa County.  The Ottawa County Commissioners are vested by Kansas State Statutes, with both legislative and administrative powers and duties.  These powers and duties include but not limited to:

Supervision of county property; control of the financial affairs of the county; approve the annual budget; designate depositories for the county; approval of land use and zoning policies recommended by the zoning board; issuance of bonds; awarding of contracts; creation of special districts; setting of salaries of all county officials; provide a jail, courthouse, office space for county officers, district court and extension district; appoint members of various boards and commissions.  The Ottawa County Commissioners also serve as the Board of Canvassers for Ottawa County elections.

The three member board meets weekly on Monday, beginning at 8:00 a.m.  Public comments are taken from 8:15 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. for anyone not on the agenda.  All meetings are open to the public.  The Ottawa County Commissioners office is located on the second floor of the courthouse at the North end of the hallway.  To get on the county commissioners agenda, please contact the Ottawa County Clerk, 785-392-2279.

District 1

Dawn Wolf, Ottawa County Commissioner, holds the First Commission District. This district consists of 10 Townships and 1 City. They are as follows: Logan, Sherman, Chapman, Grant, Durham, Richland, Ottawa, Lincoln, Buckeye, and Bennington Townships, and Bennington City.

Commissioner Wolf was elected in 2018, and took office January 14, 2019. Commissioner Wolf and her husband Tim, live in the City of Bennington.

Scott Mortimer

Scott Mortimer, Ottawa County Commissioner, holds the Second Commission District. This district consists of 3 Townships, and 2 Cities. They are as follows: Sheridan, Garfield, and Blaine Townships, and Precincts 2 and 3 in Minneapolis City, and Delphos City.

Commissioner Mortimer was elected and took office January 11, 2021 for a term of 4-years. Commissioner Mortimer and his wife Beverly, reside in the City of Delphos.

D. D. Malmberg, Ottawa County Commissioner, holds the Third Commission District. This district consists of 7 Townships and 3 Cities. They are as follows: Stanton, Fountain, Henry, Center, Concord, Morton, and Culver Townships, and the First Precinct of Minneapolis City, Culver City, and Tescott City.

Commissioner Malmberg was elected and took office January 11, 2021, for a term of 4-years. Commissioner Malmberg and her husband Cole live rural Minneapolis, Kansas, with their two children.
